Senior Consultant, Wetland Delineator – ERM
ERM is seeking a motivated Environmental Biologist/Ecologist/Scientist to join our global consulting firm as a Senior Consultant, Lead Wetland Delineator in our Environmental Impact Assessment team in ERM's Heartland Area (St. Louis, Indianapolis, Nashville, Kansas City, Charleston WV). The ideal candidate will have experience leading field-based wetland delineations and protected species assessments, managing data, and writing technical reports to support land development projects.
This is primarily a field-based role. You will work closely with ERM Project Managers and Partners on environmental permitting, due diligence, and impact assessment projects to support clients in renewable energy, oil and gas, power, and technology sectors. This role offers opportunities to develop expertise in wetland, species management, and erosion and sedimentation control compliance across the mid-Atlantic and southeastern US. Responsibilities
Perform wetland delineations using the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Wetlands Delineation Manual and Regional Supplements.
With guidance, provide creative and fit-for-purpose technical analyses in your field and support additional analyses outside your area by collaborating with subject matter experts.
Provide technical assistance on environmental assessments, environmental impact statements under NEPA, due diligence services, habitat assessments, Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, and related environmental documents.
Conduct field surveys, collect and organize data, perform literature reviews, write reports, and develop client strategies and recommendations.
Support land use planning, facility siting, pipeline and transmission routing studies, renewable energy assessments, permit matrices, and risk assessments.
Assist in preparing project-specific compliance management plans in accordance with federal, state, and local requirements.
Perform multi-media permitting and compliance documentation with emphasis on USACE, USFWS, NOAA Fisheries Service, and state/local agencies.
Work within quality, budget, and schedule expectations and develop a basic understanding of project management responsibilities.
Support ERM Partners-in-Charge and Project Managers to deliver value on projects.
Collaborate as part of the Impact Assessment team to achieve team goals.
Requirements
BS in environmental science, biology, natural resources, or related discipline; minimum 3.0 GPA or equivalent experience.
3+ years (5 years preferred) of relevant environmental experience or professional internships.
Strong commitment to safety.
Willingness to support field assignments approximately 50% of the time.
Working knowledge of field techniques for plant identification, soil sampling, hydric soil identification, and hydrology indicators.
Detail-oriented with excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Effective written/verbal communication and organizational/analytical skills.
Experience recording/writing detailed technical data and reports and building tables/spreadsheets (data tabulation and manipulation).
Ability to engage in dynamic, multifaceted situations and collaborate with a team of experts across the project lifecycle.
Ability to multi-task, stay flexible, travel, and work independently with minimal supervision.
Strong consultant attributes: team player, eager to learn, self-starter, versatile, service-oriented, and highly organized with attention to detail while maintaining the big picture.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Driver's license required: valid license and/or ability to operate a company vehicle due to frequent travel to client locations.
