The Louis A. Johnson Clarksburg VAMC is looking for a

Vascular Surgeon

veterans,

their families, and caregivers.

Duties & Responsibilities

Open and endovascular AAA surgical repair.

Dialysis access procedures.

Diagnostic and interventional angiography including mesenteric and peripheral vascular.

Lower extremity bypass.

Open and endovascular carotid surgery.

Supervision/teaching of surgical residents.

Providing consultation in an outpatient clinic setting and on inpatient wards.

Initial evaluation and overall workups, history and physicals, and admission of vascular surgery patients as needed.

Participation in committees.

Work Schedule:

Monday – Friday, 7:30 am – 4:00 pm; on‑call responsibilities as required. Hours are subject to change depending on the needs of the service/medical center.

Benefits include:

EDRP Authorized:

Eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP). Pay‑reimbursement up to $200,000, with an eligibility period of one to five years.

Pay:

Competitive salary $300,000–$400,000, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases.

Paid Time Off:

50–55 days of annual paid time off, 26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid federal holidays per year, and possible 5‑day paid absence for CME.

Retirement:

Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401(k) with up to 5% contribution by VA.

Insurance:

Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long‑term care. Many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement.

Licensure:

One full and unrestricted license from any U.S. state or territory.

CME:

Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full‑time with board certification).

Malpractice:

Free liability protection with tail coverage provided.

Contract:

No physician employment contract.

Contract Buy‑Out Program:

May be eligible for the physician contract buy‑out program, allowing employment at rural or highly rural facilities for a minimum of four years.
