In this role, you'll play a vital part in supporting licensed pharmacists with the preparation, distribution, and management of medications, ensuring safe and efficient pharmacy operations. - Accurately assist in filling prescriptions under pharmacist supervision.
- Measure, count, and package medications per prescription guidelines.
- Affix appropriate labels with dosage instructions and safety warnings.
- Input prescription and patient data into pharmacy software systems.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records.
- Monitor stock levels and coordinate with suppliers to ensure availability.
- Conduct inventory checks and rotate stock to prevent expired medications.
- Safely dispose of expired or recalled products in compliance with regulations.
- Greet patients and respond to inquiries in a courteous, professional manner.
- Assist with prescription drop-off and pick-up processes.
- Provide general medication information and refer patients to pharmacists for counseling when needed.
- Perform routine checks on pharmacy equipment and storage conditions.
- Participate in quality control efforts, including expiration date monitoring and cleanliness standards.
- Support a clean, organized, and compliant work environment.
- Follow all applicable laws and guidelines related to pharmacy operations and controlled substances.
- Adhere to safety protocols for handling medications and hazardous materials.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Registration with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy as a Registered or Certified Technician.
- Familiarity with pharmacy terminology and prescription abbreviations.
- Understanding of pharmacy laws and ethical standards.
- Strong communication and active listening skills.
- Proficiency in basic math and pharmacy software systems.
- Completion of a state-approved pharmacy technician training program preferred.
- National certification (PTCB) preferred.
- Prior experience in a pharmacy or healthcare setting is advantageous.
- Compounding experience, particularly in sterile compounding, is highly preferred.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 pounds.
- Manual dexterity and visual acuity for reading prescriptions and handling medications.
