Position Objective

The Accounting Coordinator will play a vital role in driving financial intelligence, controls, and compliance for Vapor Ministries. Reporting directly to the CFO, this individual will:

  • Execute complex accounting functions such as fund accounting, fixed asset tracking, and restricted vs. unrestricted fund management.
  • Lead month‑end close processes and support the preparation of financial reports for leadership.
  • Champion financial literacy efforts by creating budgeting tools and training for department heads and international teams.
  • Serve as a resource for personal financial literacy growth among team members, aligning with Vapor’s mission of poverty alleviation.

This role is both technical and missional, combining financial accuracy with a passion for teaching and equipping others.

Skills & Experience Needed

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • 3+ years of relevant experience—ideally with experience in journal entries, financial reporting, and fund accounting. Auditing or nonprofit/governmental background is a plus.
  • Technical: proficiency with Excel and accounting systems (Vapor uses Sage Intacct)
  • Experience training and mentoring leaders; strong people leadership with the desire to create and maintain culture
  • Embraces a strong sense of order, structure, and systemization
  • Strong initiative and proactive mindset essential; ability to anticipate challenges and take preemptive action rather than merely reacting to issues as they arise
  • Must be able to have complete alignment operating a business in a non‑profit
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and work ethic
