University Information Services (UIS) provides technical services and enterprise applications to the University of Colorado campuses and the Office of the President. The Principal Data Warehouse Engineer will support the university’s growing data‑driven decision making by leading enterprise data warehouse development, ETL operations, and BI initiatives. Conduct data engineering, including requirement gathering, ETL development, system testing, deployments, documentation, and production support with data sources such as CU’s PeopleSoft Student, HCM, Finance, InfoEd, and Advancement systems. Collaborate with key partners on user acceptance testing and business/data analysis. Design supportable solutions to meet long‑term business goals via new data warehouse data marts and enhancements to existing marts and reports. Perform detailed data profiling and analysis for data modeling and design. Create conceptual, logical, and physical data models for simple to medium complexity efforts. Maintain source‑to‑target mappings across multiple domains. Use development tools including IBM DataStage, SAS, shell scripting and Perl; act as a domain expert in ETL development and solutions architecture. Partner with management to allocate responsibilities among ETL developers and provide guidance throughout the SDLC phases. Plan and conduct system integration test cases (SIT) and deploy code through QA and production environments. Investigate data, process, logic, or scheduling issues to identify root cause and resolution plans. Lead technology projects, track project plans, estimates, cut‑over plans, resources, and communications. Mentor team members on data and BI concepts and standard methodologies. Recommend data strategies, platforms, and application infrastructure for implementation. Assist with a multi‑year data warehouse roadmap, balancing short‑ and long‑term goals. Participate in team meetings, peer design and code reviews. Administer ETL DataStage environment, including Linux configuration and monitoring. Collaborate with the BI team on data warehouse enhancements and architecture modifications. Commit to continuing education and professional development. What We Offer

$107,800–$110,000 Benefits

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent experience (substituted year‑for‑year). Four (4) years of experience in: IBM DataStage or equivalent. Data modeling or database design or data warehouse/mart design. Kimball methodologies, star schema design, and periodic snapshots. SQL, including Oracle analytic functions and tuning large‑volume queries. Administration of an ETL or middleware tool (DataStage, ODI, Informatica, OSB, etc.). Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s or post‑baccalaureate degree in computer science, computer engineering, information systems, IT, or related field. Six (6) years’ equivalent experience in: IBM DataStage or equivalent. Kimball methodologies, star schema design, periodic snapshots. SQL with Oracle analytic functions and tuning. Experience with: SDLC process for data warehousing. Linux environment, shell scripting (Perl/Korn). Technical lead managing a development team on sophisticated data warehousing projects. University or higher education setting. Java and PL/SQL programming. PeopleSoft data models (Campus Solutions, Finance, HCM 9.0+). ETL or information management tool implementation. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
