A Day in the Life of the Business Development Manager

In this role, you’ll take ownership of your assigned Texas territory, driving business growth through proactive outreach, relationship building, and consultative selling. You’ll serve as a trusted advisor to property managers, developers, and ownership groups, providing tailored submetering and utility billing solutions that align with their goals.

Responsibilities include:

Develop and manage a pipeline of qualified opportunities through networking, outbound prospecting, and local market research

Build and maintain relationships with developers, property managers, HOAs, and municipal utility districts to uncover new business opportunities

Manage the full sales cycle—from initial contact to proposal, negotiation, and close—while meeting or exceeding monthly and quarterly targets

Conduct on-site and virtual meetings, presentations, and site visits to educate potential clients on service offerings

Collaborate across departments to ensure seamless handoff and successful execution of new client accounts

Maintain accurate CRM records and deliver timely sales forecasts and reports

Stay informed about market trends, competitors, and industry developments to guide strategic outreach

Represent the company at industry trade shows, association events, and networking functions to build brand visibility

Requirements and Qualifications:

3+ years of B2B sales experience

Prior experience in industries like property management, utilities, or construction services

Proven record of achieving or exceeding sales goals in a consultative selling environment

Strong relationship‑building skills with senior‑level decision makers

Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills

Highly organized self‑starter with excellent time management abilities

Proficient with CRM systems (Salesforce preferred), Microsoft Office Suite, and virtual meeting platforms

Ability to travel within the assigned territory, including attendance at trade shows and networking events
