EOG's Columbus, Ohio Division is seeking a long term contractor for our Ohio Geology team.
The ideal candidate will assist in providing geological guidance and wellbore steering for horizontal wells. This position will require working with geologists, geophysicists, mud loggers, directional drillers and drilling engineers to ensure the correct wellbore path is obtained. This function covers the disciplines of geology and engineering where knowledge of both the geology of various formations and the operational functions of directional drilling and proposed completion practices coexist. The candidate will be called upon to provide analysis for project decision-making based on sound technical review.
Responsibilities
Provide geological guidance and wellbore steering for horizontal wells.
Collaborate with geologists, geophysicists, mud loggers, directional drillers and drilling engineers to ensure correct wellbore path.
Apply knowledge of geology and engineering to support project decision-making with technical reviews.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geophysics, or Engineering
3+ years geological/engineering experience in an oilfield-related position
Experience or knowledge in planning of wells, drilling rig operations, geo-steering techniques, and mud logging practices is a plus
Multi-tasking
Willingness to learn
Great communication
Position will be filled at a level commensurate with experience.
