Position Summary
To provide a variety of clinical laboratory procedures, using equipment, instrumentation, and terminology applicable to Microbiology, Hematology, Urinalysis, and Clinical Microscopy to complete specimen analysis and proficiency tests, as indicated by the CLIA. This position also provides direct patient care by performing phlebotomy and instructing patients regarding specimen collection. CLIA recognizes Microbiology and Hematology laboratory procedures performed by these positions as high complexity. The employee performs all categories of lab procedures, verifies accuracy, reviews quality control results, performs API proficiency tests in eCW and Harvest, tracks supplies, manages chemical waste pickup, trains new staff, and assists with competency reviews. Minimum Education And Experience Requirements
Bachelors degree in medical technology, chemistry, or a biological science; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Some positions may require compliance with current CLIA regulations. Required Qualifications, Competencies, And Experience
Venipuncture skills Communication skills Laboratory procedures knowledge Computer skills Mechanical skills for use of laboratory equipment Problem solving skills Taking remedial action when necessary
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, And Experience
Experience in working in an outpatient medical clinic environment Prior use of lab information software and electronic health software Experience in performing hematology, urinalysis, and clinical microscopy laboratory procedures Experience in performing a variety of waived testing procedures
