A seasoned Rotating Equipment Reliability Engineer role in Rodeo, CA, focusing on safe, reliable, and cost‑effective performance of critical rotating equipment through proactive reliability engineering practices, maintenance optimization, and technical support.
Key Responsibilities
Provide reliability engineering support for rotating and reciprocating equipment, including pumps, compressors, turbines, blowers, and gearboxes.
Develop and implement reliability programs to improve equipment performance and reduce unplanned outages.
Perform root cause failure analysis (RCFA) and drive corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Support daily maintenance and operations teams with troubleshooting and technical recommendations.
Review and optimize preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, including vibration analysis, oil analysis, and thermography.
Develop and maintain equipment specifications, repair procedures, and reliability standards.
Collaborate with maintenance, operations, and inspection teams to plan and execute equipment overhauls and reliability projects.
Track and analyze reliability metrics (MTBF, MTTR, equipment availability) and identify areas for improvement.
Support management of critical spares, vendor interface, and repair quality assurance.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in reliability or rotating equipment engineering within a refinery, petrochemical, or heavy industrial environment.
Strong understanding of rotating equipment design, operation, and maintenance best practices.
Experience with reliability tools and methodologies such as RCA, RCM, and FMEA.
Working knowledge of relevant API standards (API 610, 617, 618, 671, 672, etc.).
Proficiency with condition monitoring techniques and reliability software systems.
Excellent analytical, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
Preferred
Experience supporting refinery reliability programs.
Professional Engineer (PE) license or Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) credential.
Familiarity with CMMS systems (e.g., SAP) and reliability databases.
