Position Summary We are looking for an
Associate Electrical Designer
to join our team. This individual will help lead the design and realization of the electrical control systems for fluid management equipment used in biopharmaceutical and pharmaceutical applications. The equipment is highly customized fluid processing equipment, including pumps, valves, instrumentation, and piping mounted on mobile frames with locally mounted Electrical Control Panels (PLC, I/O, VFDs, pneumatics, control components, and instrumentation). The Associate Electrical Designer collaborates with the Electrical Engineering and Design Supervisor, Project Managers, and Project Engineers to translate customer requirements into electrical schematics packages, and with the Mechanical Design and Assembly teams to align design expectations and enable efficient assembly. The role should bring an innovative presence to improve panel manufacturability, functional performance, and delivery time with each project.
Duties/Responsibilities
Electrical Schematics Design: interpret customer requirements and specifications for electrical control panel builds; select components accordingly; translate technical information into wiring diagrams and complete panel designs.
Incorporate Electrical Design Standards based on geographical locations and hazardous area ratings.
Collaborate with Project Engineer on component specifications to meet design needs; create detailed enclosure drawings for custom/modulated enclosures.
Create Electrical Schematics, Enclosure Layout, Panel Layout, and Pneumatic General Assembly drawings to form a complete drawing set.
Provide a complete Drawing Set and eBOM for Control Panel Build quotations; support the controls build through project execution.
Interpret and complete drawing redlines from project stakeholders.
Build and maintain a library of commonly used parts and sub-assemblies; suggest design standards and best practices to increase productivity and design effectiveness.
Contribute to internal design and development projects through iterative conceptual designs; work with Electrical Assembly, Mechanical Design, and Engineering teams for input.
Lead or participate in review and handoff meetings with project teams; establish professional vendor relationships.
Commissioning activities including electrical start-up, troubleshooting, and CE testing.
Managing multiple projects by milestone dates; collaborate with multiple departments and present designs to customers and internal teams for review and approval.
Identify process improvements and contribute to safety and productivity improvements; stay current with evolving design standards.
Qualifications/Requirements
Associate degree in a technical or scientific field (e.g., engineering, CAD, industrial design, or related area).
3 to 6 years of experience in process systems, drafting, and electrical wiring.
Experience reading electrical schematics and applying them to real-world applications.
Familiarity with NEC, NFPA, hazardous area standards and IECEx/ATEX.
Electrical design experience is a plus.
Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical software is preferred.
Physical Demands / Environmental Conditions
Position allows hybrid work-from-home / in-office arrangements.
The base compensation range for this role is $67,000–$73,000. Base compensation is influenced by factors including time in role, experience, skills, performance, work requirements, internal equity, and economic conditions.
