Overview
The Latin American Youth Center (LAYC) AmeriCorps program in Riverdale, MD engages members in meaningful service to support the academic success, personal development, and well‑being of middle and high‑school youth in Prince George’s County. Key activities include tutoring, mentoring, enrichment sessions, and community engagement initiatives that foster student attendance, engagement, and confidence. Member Duties
AmeriCorps Members will: Serve youth in local middle schools such as Buck Lodge and William Wirt with homework help, tutoring, and small group sessions focused on literacy, social‑emotional learning, and leadership development. Lead after‑school clubs, coordinate service‑learning projects, and connect families with resources that promote student success. Participate in professional development, leadership training, and community engagement events to strengthen personal skills and civic commitment. Program Benefits
