Manufacturing Process Engineer – LM Gill Welding (Manchester, CT) – U.S. Citizenship Required | Defense Manufacturing | Onsite, Full-Time We are seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineer to drive process improvement and production efficiency across our machining, welding, and fabrication operations. This role bridges engineering and production—ideal for someone with a strong background in manufacturing process development, lean implementation, and continuous improvement in a defense, shipbuilding, or heavy industrial environment. You’ll collaborate closely with engineering, quality, and operations to develop, refine, and implement manufacturing processes that ensure precision, repeatability, and cost effectiveness for complex parts and assemblies. Key Responsibilities
Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for machined and welded components supporting naval and defense contracts. Evaluate customer specifications and translate them into production methods, tooling, and inspection requirements. Create and maintain process documentation (travelers, routings, and work instructions) in support of ISO/AS9100 standards. Work cross-functionally with production, quality, and planning to troubleshoot process issues and drive corrective actions. Identify opportunities for waste reduction, cost savings, and throughput improvement using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies. Support process validation, internal audits, and continuous improvement initiatives. Interface with external vendors, customers, and auditors as needed. Preferred Background
5–8 years of experience in manufacturing or process engineering (preferably in shipbuilding, heavy fabrication, or defense manufacturing). Strong understanding of machining, welding, and assembly operations (CNC machining experience highly preferred). Familiarity with NDT methods (VT, LP, RT, UT) and quality systems such as ISO 9001 or AS9100. Experience using ERP systems (Epicor, JobBOSS, or similar) for process control and documentation. Proficiency in SolidWorks and understanding of GD&T principles. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work hands-on in a collaborative environment. Compensation & Schedule
Base pay range: $80,000.00/yr - $110,000.00/yr Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00/7:00 AM – 3:30 PM Location: Manchester, CT (onsite) 401(k) with Company Match Paid Holidays & PTO Health Savings Account Long-term career growth within a small, high-impact defense manufacturer
