This architect role is responsible for the solution design, testing and delivery of private telecom cloud technologies. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of designing, developing, and delivering LTE core solutions for US based regional carriers or utilities. Mastery of end-to-end solution design including planning, requirements definition, high level design, low level design and provisioning, subscriber and SIM management, and network management design is required. Additionally, this position works cooperatively with a team to develop concepts, strategies and tactical processes within changing grid operations and landscapes.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Develop and document High-Level Design (HLD) and Low-Level Design (LLD) for core network components, including completing detailed Customer Information Questionnaire (CIQ) for network elements and creating network diagrams
Facilitate communication on configuration changes needed
Work with teams from cybersecurity, DGM, and Smart Grid capabilities to align all projects with the enterprise architecture strategies and guidelines
Participate in discussion and approval of all projects, procedures, and policies presented to the Architecture Review Board (ARB)
Actively engage in security vulnerability assessments and provide recommended mitigations or actions
Participate in vendor and product selection process on various DGC initiatives
Based on requirements and use cases, develop Acceptance Test Plans (ATP), test specifications, and participate in solution testing including developing end-to-end test plans
Provide technical expertise and support in resolving complex network issues by identifying root causes and developing effective corrective solutions
Participate in the design and integration of third-party solutions for end-device management, SIM management, profile management, and other platforms as required
Partner with SIM vendors to engineer private and roaming SIM profiles
Collaborate with partners, both public and private, to enable network sharing through MOCN, MORAN, home routed roaming, or other mechanisms as needed
Work in conjunction with IP planning engineers to assign all required network parameters to core network nodes
Ensure regulatory, legal or policy requirements are followed
Skills and Qualifications
Subject matter expert in 4G and 5G core network technologies including LTE/EPC, 5G NSA and 5G SA
Demonstrated expertise in cloud computing platforms, virtualization, and software-defined networking
Proficient in 3GPP interfaces and network protocols.
Familiarity with subscriber provisioning solutions including CAI3G protocol
Demonstrated abilities in implementing home routed LTE roaming solutions
Knowledge of MC-PTT is preferred
Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Computer Science required, Master Degree preferred
10 years of relevant 4G/5G core network experience required, 15+ years preferred
Comfortable working under tight deadlines and able to effectively prioritize assigned work
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, are required
