Position Thermal Design Engineer

Location Houston, Texas
Summary A Heat Exchanger Design Process Engineer with a thermal rating focus designs and optimizes heat exchangers, ensuring they meet process requirements and thermal performance targets, while also considering factors like material selection, cost, and safety.
Duties or Responsibilities
Perform thermal design of heat exchangers, including selecting appropriate types, materials and configurations
Utilize software like HTRI for heat exchanger design and simulation
Optimize heat exchanger design for efficiency, cost, and manufacturability
Perform thermal calculations to determine heat transfer rates, temperature profiles and pressure drops
Ensure that the heat exchanger meets the required thermal performance specifications
Prepare thermal rating reports and data sheets
Troubleshoot heat exchanger performance issues and identify root causes
Develop and implement solutions to improve heat exchanger performance and reliability
Identify opportunities to improve heat exchanger design and performance
Stay up to date with the latest technologies and industry best practices
Experience And Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
Experience in heat exchanger design and thermal engineering (Min. 5 years preferred)
Proficiency in heat exchange software (e.g., HTRI)
Strong understanding of heat transfer principles, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
