Engages patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolves patient issues promptly to ensure a positive patient experience. Models customer service best practices to deliver a distinctive patient experience and Walgreens service traits. Leads efforts to enhance patient experience by increasing awareness of healthcare services offered through Walgreens (e.g., patient consultation, medication management, drug therapy reviews, immunizations, diagnostic testing, and patient outcomes services). Participates in events reflecting the communities served as requested by leadership. Counsels patients on usage of medications, side effects, interactions, contraindications, privacy, generics, cost considerations, and OTC products. Refers to medical providers as needed. Performs pharmacist tasks including compounding, drug therapy reviews, verification, and medication management. Reviews, interprets, and dispenses prescribed medications in accordance with regulations and policies. Ensures pharmacy operations comply with regulations, company policies, and standards. Oversees staffing, scheduling, workflow coordination, and opening/closing procedures. Ensures adherence to Good Faith Dispensing in line with state and federal laws when filling prescriptions. Collaborates with Store Manager to define and develop new strategic business opportunities. Maintains information technology knowledge of pharmacy systems (workflow, prescription fulfillment, billing, clinical documentation, inventory management, POS). Supports staff and patients with IT and identifies productivity improvements. Ensures insurance claims are processed accurately and supports resolution of issues with insurers or providers, including third-party audits. Follows up with medical providers to clarify prescriptions, dosages, refills, interactions, and allergies; suggests alternatives when appropriate. Performs clinical and wellness services such as immunizations, diagnostic testing, disease state management, and other healthcare services. Collaborates with centralized support for patient registration, exception resolution, and issue resolution; in virtual environments, conducts virtual product reviews per company procedures. Manages maintenance, housekeeping, and improvement of the pharmacy department, including repairs, cleaning, new equipment, and layout changes. Prepares and submits records and reports required by state and federal laws to run the pharmacy business (e.g., operating statements, performance indicator reports). People & Performance Management
Collaborates with Store Manager on staff hiring, discipline, termination as needed, and ensures compliance with employment laws. Partners with Store Manager to set expectations and goals, promote teamwork, and recognize improvements; manages performance reviews and staff development. Identifies high-potential team members and plans career progression with Store Manager. Addresses employee relations concerns and maintains morale by addressing complaints and conflicts. Maintains required licensing/credentialing/certification as regulated by federal and state requirements. Maintains and enhances knowledge related to pharmacy and healthcare; pursues best practices to improve pharmacy performance. Completes required education credits and training. Engages in professional development, seeks feedback, and uses mentors for growth. Qualifications
BS in Pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited institution. Current pharmacist licensure in the states within the district. Certified Immunizer or willing to become one within 90 days of hire. At least 1 year of pharmacy experience including prescription filling, recordkeeping, compliance, operations, software, and insurance billing. Some states may have more specific requirements. Experience in prescription dispensing with knowledge of state and federal controlled substance laws. Internal candidates: average leadership rating of at least 3.0 on last performance review, and no disciplinary actions in the last 12 months. About Walgreens
