Overview The Project Engineer will work with Amagi’s Onboarding / Implementation / Customer Success teams to configure, deploy, and support streaming / broadcast solutions for new channel or content customers. This involves technical integration of encoders, CDNs, ad insertion systems, cloud infrastructure, and ensuring systems meet agreed specifications. The role tends to be hands‑on, cross‑functional, and requires both technical and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
Configure streaming infrastructure components such as encoders (Zixi, SRT, AWS MediaLive), CDNs, Server‑Side Ad Insertion (SSAI) systems, ad tags, etc.
Set up cloud‑networking elements (e.g. VPCs, peering, security groups) and partner with DevOps/Cloud teams to establish stable, secure environments.
Participate in the onboarding process: receive specs from presales/solutions architecture, coordinate with Project Managers, Testing, DevOps, and Customer / Platform teams to ensure end‑to‑end delivery.
Debug issues in streaming pipelines or deployments; perform proactive troubleshooting of integration issues.
Validate quality: conduct thorough testing (functional, integration, possibly manual & automated), ensure no defects before marking tasks done.
Participate in status meetings / standups; report project progress, blockers, escalation as needed.
Ensure customer satisfaction by delivering systems that meet agreed requirements in terms of specs, performance, reliability.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or related discipline.
Experience with streaming / OTT technologies: HLS, MPEG‑DASH, CDNs, encoders, etc. (typically 1‑3 years or more).
Knowledge / hands‑on experience with cloud platforms, especially AWS (MediaLive, MediaTailor, etc.), and familiarity with networking, VPCs, security groups, etc.
Good scripting / automation skills (e.g. shell scripting, Python) to help set up assets, automate routine tasks.
Comfortable working in cross‑functional teams (Project Managers, DevOps, QA, Customer Success, External Platforms) and strong communication skills.
Attention to detail; ability to test, catch defects; and ensure quality.
Nice‑to‑Have / Preferred
Experience or familiarity with Amagi’s own products (Thunderstorm, etc.) or competing SSAI / streaming architectures.
Knowledge of ad tech (VAST, ad tags, ad insertion).
Experience in video codecs, playout systems, EPG (Electronic Program Guide) systems.
Ability to work flexible hours / shifts, since customers may be in different time zones.
