Position SENIOR TRANSPORTATION PLANNER (JC-497232) – Freight Data and Performance Specialist

Location 1120 N. Street, Sacramento, CA 95814, Sacramento County (hybrid telework available).

Job Details Salary: $8,678.00–$10,783.00 per month. Permanent, full‑time position. Commute to headquarters as required.

Responsibilities

Lead, coordinate, develop and implement freight data analysis and performance measurement activities for Caltrans.

Provide technical expertise on freight transportation decisions based on data‑and‑performance‑driven approaches.

Develop tools and applications to harness freight data for analysis and reporting.

Execute freight data and performance analyses and monitor statewide freight performance.

Implement federal and state legislation and policies affecting freight data and performance measurement.

Work with other Caltrans units to manage freight data and deliver reports to stakeholders.

Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years of freight planning or operations experience.

Bachelor’s degree in transportation, civil engineering or related field (advanced degree preferred).

Proficiency with data analysis, GIS and freight performance measurement tools.

Knowledge of federal and state legislation and policies related to freight transportation.

Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as required.

Eligibility to sit for the Senior Transportation Planner state exam; current state civil‑service eligibility required.

Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) required for application.

Desirable Qualifications

Experience in freight planning, operations, supply chain or logistics.

Knowledge of transportation planning trends and inter‑modal issues.

Project management and contract management experience.

Understanding of California state and department strategic goals and policies.
