Lead a sub-team within the DAR Communications (DARCOMM) department and report to the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications. Serve as the senior Project Manager for the DAR Communications unit and manage a portfolio of key projects. Provide strategic oversight and guidance to Communications Coordinators/Project Managers; ensure projects are delivered from initiation to completion and align with DAR brand objectives and budget. Collaborate with other team leadership to develop marketing plans that meet division goals and align the DARCOMM team (designers, web specialists, writers, etc.). Write and review press releases, blog posts, web copy, and advertisements as needed in collaboration with the writing unit and the Editorial Content team. Lead meetings, set plans, and align specialists to execute those plans; establish processes to improve efficiency; mentor the team on writing and relationship-building. Coordinate and execute DAR communications planning activities twice per year with other team members and units. Coordinate Vice Presidential communications, including scripting talking points, developing presentations, and creating LinkedIn posts and a monthly Pulse e-newsletter. Direct interactions with members of the press and coach DAR staff in media relations; manage non-digital advertising and relationships with advertisers. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent plus 10 years of professional experience, including 3 years of supervisory experience. Preferred: at least five years of experience in journalism, broadcasting, public relations, or related fields. Preferred: at least five years of experience managing a team and coaching staff. Preferred: at least five years of experience in a project management role and experience with complex project management platforms. Experience in client services/customer service; experience in media relations, digital advertising, email marketing, and/or social marketing. Strong writing and proofreading skills with knowledge of AP Style and correct grammar. Design awareness or knowledge of design programs is a plus; experience in nonprofit and/or higher education is desired. Demonstrates commitment to the mission, vision, and values of the University of Georgia; exhibits leadership and ethical conduct; ability to collaborate and secure buy-in across units.
