General Function

Manages complex assignments involving accounting projects.

Assumes responsibility and accountability for developing and maintaining accurate and detailed accounting records and is responsible for preparing financial statements and reports.

Interacts with affiliate and division management and financial departments to ensure the achievement of Bancorp objectives.

Plays a key role in month‑end closing duties and reporting.

Responsible and accountable for risk by exchanging ideas, elevating concerns, and following policies and procedures.

Ensures actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience.

Consistently identifies, assesses, manages, monitors, and reports risks of all types.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Supervises maintenance of complex accounting records and performance of all related accounting functions.

Oversees preparation of daily entries, monitoring of accounts, and maintenance of account balances.

Oversees preparation of monthly financial statements.

Ensures compliance with Bancorp accounting policies and GAAP.

Ensures reconciliation and resolution of outages from accounts.

Ensures proper documentation of all transactions and G/L entries.

Ensures standardization or recurring and common entries across all affiliates and divisions.

Assists in the development and maintenance of Bancorp accounting policies and procedures.

Analyzes and directs the implementation of new accounting standards and rules.

Ensures policies and procedures are fairly applied consistently throughout the Bank.

Performs complex special accounting projects.

Optimizes the application of GAAP.

Continuously searches for process improvements to automate and simplify.

Leverages technology to enhance efficiency and productivity.

Identifies opportunities to improve accounting processes and supports integration of a new accounting system.

Coordinates month‑end accounting activities with other departments, divisions, and affiliates.

Ensures all accounting entries and reports are completed on a timely and accurate basis in accordance with policies and GAAP.

Ensures the completion and accuracy of all account reconciliations.

Develops and maintains appropriate business relationships with internal and external customers.

Manages departmental resources and budget, staffing, performance plans, and salary administration.

Allocates and reviews work, provides training, and guides and advises subordinates for development.

Motivates employees through decisions regarding pay, placement, and promotions.

Measures employee performance by establishing standards and comparing results.

Assists in the development and maintenance of the Bancorp's accounting information and inputs into the financial systems.

Responsible for G/L account setup and maintenance.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Provides employees timely, candid, and constructive performance feedback.

Develops employees to their fullest potential and provides challenging opportunities.

Builds an appropriate talent pool for bench strength and succession planning.

Recognizes and rewards employee accomplishments.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Required

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics.

MBA and/or certification (CPA, CMA, etc.).

Minimum of 7 years of accounting‑related experience (banking or public accounting a plus).

Prior supervisory experience.

Proficiency in advanced spreadsheet applications such as Microsoft Excel and Word.

Ability to learn and understand Bancorp mainframe systems such as Frontier, Mobius, Business Objects, and TM1.

Excellent communication, organization, and follow‑up skills.

Excellent people/relationship building skills.

Strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to apply critical thought processes.

Capable of prioritizing and organizing work to meet deadlines.

Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with other managers and department leaders, senior management, and executive leaders.
