MSM North America is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Process Engineer to lead process design, optimization, and technical support. This role is responsible for ensuring manufacturing and facility processes meet stringent defense, safety, and quality standards while driving operational efficiency and continuous improvement. As a senior-level engineer, the role provides technical leadership, process oversight, and cross-functional collaboration to support mission-critical defense programs. Key Responsibilities

Process Development & Optimization

Lead the design, analysis, and optimization of manufacturing and facility processes supporting munitions and defense-related production. Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and engineering methodologies to improve efficiency, quality, and throughput. Ensure processes are compliant with defense, safety, and environmental standards. Technical Leadership & Support

Serve as the technical authority for process-related engineering challenges. Provide guidance to junior engineers, technicians, and cross-functional staff. Collaborate with operations, safety, and quality teams to resolve technical issues and improve reliability. Regulatory & Quality Compliance

Ensure compliance with defense and government regulations, including OSHA, EPA, DoD, and DA PAM standards. Partner with quality teams to support ISO 9001 and internal quality system requirements. Lead root cause analyses and corrective action plans for process non-conformances. Continuous Improvement & Innovation

Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cost, cycle time, and defects. Identify and implement new technologies, tools, and methods that enhance production capabilities. Develop and maintain process documentation, SOPs, and engineering standards. Project Engineering & Execution

Support facility and equipment modernization, expansion, and integration projects. Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets for process engineering initiatives. Prepare and develop Statements of Work (SOWs) to define scope, deliverables, and performance requirements for contractors and suppliers. Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and Army representatives for successful project delivery. Safety & Risk Management

Conduct process hazard analyses, risk assessments, and failure mode analyses. Partner with Explosive Safety SME and EHS personnel to ensure operations comply with explosives and industrial safety requirements. Champion a safety-first culture within engineering and production environments. Qualifications

Required: Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering required. 10+ years of progressive experience in process engineering within defense, aerospace, chemical, or high-reliability manufacturing. Demonstrated success leading large-scale process improvement, facility integration, or production engineering programs. Experience in defense manufacturing, explosives processing, or high-compliance environments. Preferred: Master's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline. Lean Six Sigma certification (Black Belt). Skills

Expertise in process modeling, optimization, and root cause analysis. Proficiency with engineering design tools, CAD software, and statistical analysis software. Strong leadership, project management, and mentoring skills. Exceptional problem-solving ability with a focus on compliance, safety, and quality. Key Competencies

This role is based full-time onsite at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant (IAAAP). The Senior Process Engineer will work in manufacturing, industrial, and high-hazard areas requiring strict adherence to safety standards and protective measures.
