Overview Metropolis is looking for a Senior Accountant to work under the direction of an Accounting Manager maintaining general ledger accounts and related activities to produce financial statements in accordance with GAAP. This position is integral to a transformative initiative aimed at modernizing traditional accounting operations. It involves developing and implementing core process automation and establishing a scalable infrastructure that utilizes real-time analytics. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for daily accounting tasks and month-end close including account reconciliations, thorough review of accounting classifications, preparing journal entries, analyzing business transactions, and delivering financial reports. The successful candidate will leverage AI and Robotic Process Automation (RPA) to streamline and optimize existing workflows, automate repetitive tasks, and introduce intelligent capabilities for improved efficiency and accuracy. This will be a hybrid role working 4 days per week from our Nashville, New York, or Chicago office.
Responsibilities
Complete month-end close activities accurately and according to department deadlines
Prepare and post journal entries
Record accruals, expense allocations, and month-end true-ups
Collect, analyze, and record data to general ledger system
Utilize AI and automation to improve existing daily processes
Maintain financial historical records by filing accounting documents and related support
Work closely with internal and external departments to ensure financial transactions are properly recorded and complete
Assist with the monthly budgetary process for reporting and variance analysis; review and reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly
Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data
Participate in year-end audit to compile and prepare supporting schedules, work papers, and financial reports
Qualifications
3+ years of accounting experience
Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited university
CPA candidate with successful passed exam parts or CPA certification
AI and Robotic Process Automation capability to streamline daily routines and tasks
Ability to manage time for multiple tasks to meet established deadlines
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to work with a low-ego, highly collaborative, cross-functional team
Nice to have
Experience in real estate
Compensation and Benefits The anticipated base salary for this position is $100,000.00 USD to $110,000.00 USD annually. The actual base salary offered is determined by factors including qualifications, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location. Base salary is one component of Metropolis’ total compensation package, which may also include healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a stock option plan, bonus plans and more.
