This role provides project controls cost engineering support to Directors, Managers of Projects, Project Managers, Sr. Project Cost Analysts, contractors and other key team members. Primary Purpose of Position: Provide project controls cost engineering support to project teams and assist in the development and monitoring of annual budgets, actual and forecasted costs, and Long Range Plans for transmission, substation, distribution, and gas projects and programs. Utilize multiple Exelon systems to support budgeting, financial forecasting, cost tracking, project authorization, work management, contracts, and material tracking. Prepare reports to support business operations, including reauthorization risk, forecast accuracy, CIAC forecast and analysis, contingency status, and other requests. Position may require extended hours for storms or energy delivery emergencies. Location : Primary Location – 701 9th Street NW, Washington, DC 20068; Additional Locations – 401 Eagle Run Road, Newark, DE 19702; 5100 Harding Highway, Mays Landing, NJ 08330. Responsibilities
Attend required meetings and engage project stakeholders for detailed project information. Identify budget, forecast, and authorization issues early and assist in developing resolutions to meet project metrics. (25%) Develop and monitor budgets and long-range plans for transmission, substation, distribution, and gas projects. Track budgets, forecasts, accruals, and actuals. (20%) Track financial risks and opportunities, provide variance analysis against budget and quarterly plan, and support financial challenge meetings with project management. (15%) Develop, organize, and present project and program performance reports for internal and external use. Participate in monthly forecasting and accrual meetings with Sr Project Cost Analysts and Project Managers. (10%) Participate in monthly forecasting and accrual meetings and prepare monthly project accruals and journal entries for review and submission to Finance, reporting variances and issues to project management and leadership. (10%) Analyze project actuals and forecast data for compliance with internal and external Sarbanes-Oxley audits. (10%) Support vendor forecasting process used as input for forecasting and accruals by Project Controls. (5%) Provide support to Sr. Project Cost Analysts and Project Managers for presentations and forms required for project authorization. (5%) Job Scope
This is an individual contributor role with general direction, relying on knowledge and experience to plan and accomplish tasks. Routine interaction with internal and external stakeholders, executives, directors, managers, and staff. May require extended hours and/or shift work to support business operations. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or Technical Field. 2-4 years related experience; or, in lieu of degree, 3-6 years of business experience. Comprehensive understanding of standards, methods, processes, and practices in the supported functional area; ability to apply forecasting, analytical, financial, accounting, and budget analysis. Strong analytical skills for project financial evaluation, risk identification, and mitigation; effective verbal and written communication; problem solving and project management. Knowledge of financial/cost analyst practices, performance analysis, benchmarking, and audit compliance. Ability to analyze data and complex problems, recommend actions, and implement solutions to attain performance targets. Demonstrated analytical skills for evaluating complex projects with economic and risk considerations. Preferred Qualifications
Financial advanced degree. 2-5 years project cost tracking experience in electric/gas transmission, distribution, and substation industries. Advanced proficiency in software applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Project) and industry tools to retrieve and analyze data. Proven ability to develop and present business cases to leadership. Benefits
