Job Description Your Job:

The Chaplain will provide spiritual care to patients, families and staff in an assigned clinical area and to participate in the mentorship of the Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program. You will participate in the ministry of the department by providing pastoral care, spiritual support, and emotional support to patients and families. You will be responsible for on-call duty and hospital rounding.

Your Job Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree, Masters of Divinity or Equivalent.

Minimum of four (4) units of ACPE-accredited Clinical Pastoral Education.

Ability to relate to people of all ages, all religions, cultures and ethnic groups.

Ordination and/or endorsement from appropriate religious body. (completed or in process)

1 year hospital ministry experience.

Your Job Responsibilities

Participates in the ministry of the department by providing pastoral care, spiritual support, and emotional support to patients and families through regular rounding, clinical assignments and responding to all hospital codes.

Participates in the mentorship of the Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program.

Provide staff support through regular rounding, organized support programs, and debriefings.

Coordinates and facilitates release and transport of deceased bodies to appropriate agency.

Provides grief support and counseling as appropriate to deceased’s family and friends.

Interfaces with external agencies/organizations inclusive of (but not limited to) funeral homes, Medical Examiners, Organ and Tissue donation, community support groups, religious organizations.

Assists in locating and contacting next of kin for patients arriving in ED via ambulance.

Collaborates with local religious leaders, chaplain volunteers, visiting clergy and spiritual caregivers.

Participates in other pastoral and administrative duties as assigned under the direction of the clinical manager.
