Job Description
The Instructional Designer will work under the supervision of the Distance Learning Coordinator while collaborating closely to design, develop, and support high-quality online and face-to-face courses. The position will play a key role in faculty development, instructional technology support, and institutional quality assurance processes. Additionally, the instructional designer will help to lead course review initiatives and support faculty in meeting quality standards.

Responsibilities
Collaborate with faculty to design, develop, and revise engaging instructional content across multiple modalities (asynchronous and synchronous online, and face-to-face)
Evaluate, select, and assist with the implementation of emerging instructional technologies to enhance teaching and learning
Provide consultation and training on best practices in instructional design, pedagogy, and digital learning tools
Assist in troubleshooting academic technologies, including the LMS (Canvas), multimedia tools, and other instructional technologies
Serve as a Quality Matters Coordinator with the Distance Learning Coordinator to oversee any QM initiatives and support faculty in QM training
Lead internal course review processes, ensuring courses meet institutional expectations for accessibility, quality, and alignment with learning outcomes
Facilitate workshops, orientations, and one‑on‑one sessions to support faculty in effective teaching and use of instructional technologies
Ensure instructional materials comply with accessibility standards and universal design for learning principles
Manage instructional design projects, timelines, and deliverables to align with institutional goals
Stay current with trends in instructional design, learning science, and educational technology
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Earned bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Education, or a related field
Experience in instructional design, course development, or related educational support role
A background check will be required of the successful candidate
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of instructional design models (ADDIE, SAM, backward design) and adult learning theory
Strong skills in instructional technology tools and LMS platforms (Canvas preferred)
Ability to evaluate, adopt, and implement emerging instructional technologiesSkills in diagnosing and troubleshooting technical issues related to academic technologies
Knowledge of accessibility standards and universal design principles
Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately, both verbally and in writing
Strong collaboration, planning, and project management skills
Experience or knowledge of Quality Matters (QM) is a plus
