Backend Engineer II (Modeling) work with technology, data, and energy leadership to build solutions for complex power grid problems. You will write interactive software to analyze and explore energy data, including modeling constraints and optimization formulations. Location: Yes Energy core offices - Boulder, CO; Chicago, IL; Boston, MA; or Richmond, VA Hybrid work: 2 days a week in the office Full-time Reporting to: Senior Director, Engineering Primary Responsibilities

Develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable, reliable software using the company backend platform and technologies. Model and develop new constraints for the Mixed Integer Program (MIP). Analyze, evaluate, and optimize MIP solver runtime in different scenarios. Collaborate with operations and infrastructure to build and scale services. Participate in all product life cycle phases: requirements analysis, design, development, deployment, and support. Embrace Agile development methodologies and practices. Contribute to implementation and architecture discussions. Coach, mentor, and guide peers, fostering excellence and continuous learning. Minimum Qualifications

Minimum of two years of experience as a software engineer. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent years of experience. Proficiency in backend languages, especially C#. Advanced skills in modeling linear and integer optimization models. Strong mathematical ability and a passion for optimizing system performance and scalability. Familiarity with Agile development methodologies. Excellent communication and teamwork skills; ability to share knowledge and build tooling for customers. Self-directed and capable of supporting multiple teams and products. Continuous learner with active professional development. Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree or higher in Mathematics, Data Science, or Electrical Engineering. Experience with CPLEX, Xpress, or Gurobi. Interest or experience in the energy industry or power system modeling. About Yes Energy
