Responsibilities

Oversees the clinical operations for all/assigned clinical disciplines.

Sets annual performance goals for clinical disciplines in alignment with organizational objectives.

Oversees the completion of performance evaluations including development of performance objectives and developmental goals each year.

Leads staff retention and development programs to optimize staff performance, satisfaction and minimize turnover.

Hires and coordinates training for all clinical personnel.

Directs the development of initial orientation, standardized onboarding and ongoing education programs for assigned clinical staff.

Develops annual operating goals and budget for the clinical department in support of the practice’s business plan under the direction of the Executive Director and Controller.

Controls the clinical departments operating costs within budget parameters.

Assists in the development and preparation of short‑term and long‑range plans and budgets based on organization goals and objectives, including identification/development of new clinical service lines.

Maintains effective clinical staff coverage for the practice within budgetary guidelines.

Directs the correct use of charge codes and facilitates education of all clinical staff in correct documentation per reimbursement guidelines.

Directs the development/implementation of clinical components of regulatory and value‑based care programs/contracts, and facilitates education of staff on key program components to ensure compliance.

Collaborates with practice management to provide leadership on operational projects such as site quality committees, Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI), other applicable accreditations, regulatory and value‑based care program compliance, and other special projects as assigned.

Responsible for facilitating, optimizing and implementing care‑delivery best practices, including assessment of appropriate staffing levels, patient flow, current clinical practices/services, and policies & procedures.

Collaborates with various US Oncology groups/committees to facilitate systematic solutions to patient‑care initiatives.

Responsible for leading clinical initiatives in patient education and communication, evaluating standards of patient care and professional practice with special attention to cost‑effectiveness, comfort, safety, age‑specific implications, and cultural diversity.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in nursing or another clinical field required.

Advanced degree in nursing, healthcare, or business field (MSN, MBA, or MHA) strongly preferred.

Current state licensure for applicable clinical educational background.

Current CPR certification required.

Minimum seven to ten years of direct clinical experience in an oncology practice or clinic setting.

Minimum five to seven years of prior management experience with increasing levels of responsibility.

Experience in oncology/hematology office clinical management.

Oncology certification preferred.

Health‑care quality improvement certification (e.g., CPHQ, Six Sigma) a plus.

Location: Norfolk, VA.
