Job Summary The General Manager reports to the COO of Heilind Mil-Aero and directs and coordinates all activities of both organizations to obtain optimum efficiency and economy of operations and maximize profits through appropriate resource management by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate managers and supervisors. This is a full-time position, located at the worksite in Lumberton, NJ.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Facilitating strategic planning with other Senior Management
Planning, developing and implementing organization policies and goals
Directing and coordinating activities of divisions or departments, including operations, production, warehouse, quality, engineering, planning, and inventory control, to effect operational efficiency and economy in accordance with strategic focus and goals.
Lead and participate in Quarterly Management Review meetings for each business
Support managers with approvals, recruiting, and hiring staff for turnover and growth needs
Analyzing budget requests to identify areas in which reductions can be made or adding resources as needed, and assisting other senior management in allocating operating budget
Design and analysis of key performance indicators (KPI), quality objectives and other metrics
Conferring with administrative personnel and reviewing activity, operating, and sales reports to determine changes in programs or operations required
Directing preparation of directives outlining policy, program, or operations changes to be implemented
Ensuring the safety of personnel and the condition and security of the facility and critical equipment
Evaluating, mentoring, and training of all managers within GM's scope of responsibility
Additional GM Responsibilities
Participate in visits, and host tours, of suppliers, customers, and 3rd parties as local management representative
Assisting to ensure company compliance with applicable customer, federal, state, and local laws and regulations and requirements
Driving continuous improvement through training and process improvement
Managing overall compliance with AS9100D and related standards
Complying with all applicable elements of ICC and Trek Quality Management System
Other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience
Bachelor's Degree
5 years as senior operations manager or general manager in a manufacturing or industrial distribution environment (defense contracting environment preferred)
Advanced experience leading or directing continuous improvement activities at organization level (thorough understanding of Lean Enterprise preferred)
Experience leading an ISO 9001 organization (AS9100 preferred)
Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office and other relevant software packages
Strong math and statistics skills
Skills And Requirements
Must be a US Citizen due to Naval Contractual Agreements.
Must be able to report to assigned office location (Lumberton, NJ), Monday thru Friday 8-5.
Strong business acumen -- mix of deductive and intuitive approaches
Highly developed analytical skills, particularly process analysis
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement advanced business strategies, processes and plans
A natural leader and team-builder who is experienced in developing/training/mentoring talent
Strong communication skills (oral and written) with the ability to communicate to stakeholders at all levels within the organization as well as external to the organization.
Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job the employee is often required to stand, sit, use computers, read, write, type, use copy machines, file paperwork, use telephones, and utilize written and oral communication to interact with clients, co-workers, and vendors. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
