About the Role This role focuses on sophisticated land use and environmental work, including regulatory permitting, CEQA compliance, and entitlement strategy for major development projects. The ideal candidate will be a trusted advisor to clients, providing legal guidance through the complexities of California’s planning, zoning, and environmental regulations. Litigation experience in land use matters is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
Advise clients on complex land use entitlements and regulatory permitting
Navigate environmental review processes under CEQA and related laws
Conduct legal research, draft opinions, and review project documents
Collaborate with a team on large-scale development projects
Represent clients in administrative proceedings and, when needed, in litigation
Ideal Candidate Profile
Licensed Attorney with a minimum of 7 years of experience in land use and CEQA matters
Expert-level knowledge of CEQA, planning and zoning laws, and regulatory frameworks
Proven ability to advise clients on land use entitlements, permitting, and environmental review processes
Strong legal research, writing, and advocacy skills
Comfortable managing multiple complex projects simultaneously in a collaborative team setting
Experience working on large-scale public and private development projects
Land use litigation experience strongly preferred
Located in or open to working from Los Angeles, Oakland, or San Diego, CA
Interested in joining a high-caliber legal team shaping California's infrastructure and communities
