POSITION SUMMARY:
The Specialized Capacity Manager is responsible for overseeing real-time tracking and tracing of shipments, ensuring consistent communication with carriers, and supporting after-hours freight operations. This role plays a key part in maintaining service levels, coaching and training team members, and driving operational continuity across all shifts. The Capacity Manager works closely with carrier sales, dispatch, and customer service to ensure proactive load coverage and execution.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS FOR THIS POSITION:
Oversee the daily tracking and tracing of all active shipments to ensure timely pickups, deliveries, and updates. Manage and support after-hours and weekend freight operations, including issue escalation and load coverage coordination. Provide coaching, onboarding, and training for tracking, tracing, and carrier operations staff. Monitor communication between internal teams and carriers, ensuring visibility and accuracy across all loads. Use technology platforms to track performance, service failures, and exception handling procedures. Requirements

Collaborate with carrier sales and account managers to ensure alignment on shipment status and customer expectations. Identify operational gaps and implement continuous improvements in communication flow and service delivery. Maintain shift coverage schedules and ensure seamless handoffs between day and after-hours teams. Assist in carrier onboarding and compliance checks where capacity issues arise. REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred 3+ years of experience in logistics, transportation operations, or dispatch/tracking roles 1+ years of supervisory or leadership experience in a 3PL or brokerage setting PREFERRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
Experience with logistics platforms (TMS, CRM, ERP systems) Experience working in a freight brokerage or 3PL environment Background in third-party logistics, freight brokerage, or transportation services Experience with load tracking platforms, TMS systems, and automated visibility tools REQUIRED SKILLS (TECHNICAL, CLERICAL, LANGUAGE, ETC.):
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment Proficiency in CRM and support platforms Experience managing teams or schedules across multiple shifts OTHER INFORMATION:
