Job Description Join our team as a Safety Coordinator and play a vital role in fostering a safe, compliant, and high-performing work environment within our modular manufacturing facility.

Job Summary The Safety Coordinator oversees all safety programs and procedures within the modular manufacturing facility. Responsibilities include conducting inspections, leading incident investigations, facilitating training, and ensuring compliance with OSHA and other regulations. This role works cross-functionally to identify hazards, foster a strong safety culture, and drive continuous improvement in health and safety performance.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and Implement Safety Programs

Create and maintain site-specific safety policies and procedures tailored to modular construction/manufacturing.

Align programs with OSHA, EPA, and state/local regulations.

Conduct Safety Training

Organize and deliver safety for new hires.

Facilitate recurring safety training (e.g., PPE, fall protection, lockout/tagout, fire safety, etc.).

Perform Regular Safety Inspections & Audits

Conduct routine inspections of workstations, equipment, tools, and modular units.

Identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are documented and followed up.

Lead Incident Investigations

Respond to accidents, near-misses, and safety concerns.

Conduct root cause analyses and create incident reports.

Recommend and track corrective actions.

Monitor Regulatory Compliance

Ensure compliance with OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, and other applicable standards.

Stay current on changes to regulations and implement necessary updates.

Manage Safety Records and Documentation

Maintain accurate records of training, inspections, incidents, and corrective actions.

Prepare reports for internal leadership and external regulatory agencies as required.

Oversee Hazard Communication and SDS Management

Ensure all Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are current and accessible.

Label hazardous materials properly and maintain compliance with HAZCOM standards.

Coordinate Emergency Preparedness

Develop and test emergency response plans (fire, severe weather, chemical spill, etc.).

Conduct drills and train staff on proper procedures.

Promote a Culture of Safety

Lead toolbox talks, safety committees, and recognition programs.

Encourage employee participation in hazard identification and reporting.

Collaborate Across Departments

Work closely with managers, HR, and maintenance technicians to ensure safe work practices.

Provide guidance during design and layout of modular workspaces to eliminate hazards.

Primary Work Location:

Romulus, MI

Requirements

Education : High School Diploma or GED required. Associate or bachelor's degree in safety-related field.

Experience : One year of experience in manufacturing, production or similar setting. Experience coordinating or supporting environmental, health and safety (EHS) programs.

Certificates & Licenses

Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), or similar credential.

OSHA 30-Hour Certification

(Construction or General Industry).

Other Requirements

Demonstrated ability to understand directions and read blueprints/shop drawings.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

The ability to analyze incidents, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.

Proficiency with standard office software, such as MS Office Suite.

Demonstrated ability work within a team, independently, and in collaboration with others.

Ability to travel locally and regionally to attend meetings, visit sites, conferences, etc. as required.
