Zoetis Veterinary Medicine Research and Development, Product Sustainability, Quality & Logistics in Kalamazoo, MI is seeking a talented, experienced individual to provide logistic oversight at the Scientist level.
Position Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and dynamic Logistics Scientist to provide pharmacist-level operational oversight for the end-to-end management of test articles and investigational veterinary products in support of clinical studies. This role will ensure the safe, compliant, and efficient handling, documentation, and distribution of study materials, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to uphold the highest standards of quality and regulatory integrity.
Key Responsibilities
Manage inventory of investigational veterinary products and test articles across the Kalamazoo site and within pharmacy operations.
Develop and maintain inventory management systems to track product conditions, quantities, and locations.
Ensure strict compliance with DEA and FDA regulations for handling, storage, recordkeeping, and disposal of controlled substances and regulated compounds.
Maintain accurate documentation and data entry in Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and other regulatory databases.
Archive records for audit and regulatory purposes.
Collaborate with quality assurance and supply chain teams to ensure all requirements for GLP and GCP inventories are met.
Serve as primary point of contact for regulatory inspections and audits related to pharmacy operations.
Prepare vials, boxes, and leaflet labels using dedicated software (e.g., BarTender). Operate label printing equipment and automated label counting and dispensing tools.
Execute labeling and packaging campaigns, including scheduling with partners.
Support implementation and training for new sample management software and electronic applications.
Assist with documentation and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
M.S. or B.S. + 7 years' experience in a scientific field, supply chain, or pharmacy management.
Preferred: PharmD degree with relevant industry experience. Active and unrestricted pharmacist license (as required by state).
Demonstrated experience in inventory management and regulatory compliance (DEA and FDA) within a pharmacy or research setting.
Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and online inventory databases.
Ability and comfort with learning/using lab automation and digital tools.
Strong organizational, coordination, and technical laboratory skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience in logistics or supply chain management, preferably within a laboratory, pharmacy, or research environment.
Additional Information Work environment: This position is in Kalamazoo, MI. Occasional travel to other Zoetis sites may also be requested. The person filling this position will work predominantly in a pharmacy and laboratory setting.
