The Inside Sales Manager is responsible for leading and managing the inside sales team and overseeing the operations of the showroom at Mill Creek Lumber & Supply. This role ensures that all inside sales associates deliver outstanding customer service, maintain strong product knowledge, and uphold Mill Creek’s reputation for reliability and professionalism. The Inside Sales Manager drives sales performance, supports team development, and ensures the showroom provides a clean, organized, and customer-friendly environment that reflects the quality of the Mill Creek brand.
Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Management
Lead, coach, and develop the inside sales team to achieve sales goals, strengthen customer relationships, and deliver excellent service.
Set clear expectations and monitor team performance, providing regular feedback and guidance.
Foster a positive, accountable, and collaborative team culture that emphasizes customer satisfaction and professional growth.
Coordinate staffing schedules and ensure adequate coverage during business hours.
Sales Management
Oversee the inside sales process from quote to order completion, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and attention to detail.
Support the sales team with pricing, quoting, and product selection to meet customer needs.
Partner with outside sales, operations, and purchasing to ensure smooth communication and efficient order fulfillment.
Analyze sales data and trends to identify opportunities for growth and improved performance.
Maintain a deep understanding of Mill Creek’s product lines, vendor offerings, and market conditions.
Customer Experience
Ensure all inside sales associates consistently deliver exceptional customer service through professionalism, responsiveness, and product expertise.
Resolve escalated customer issues promptly and professionally.
Promote a customer‑first culture by reinforcing best practices for relationship management and follow‑up.
Ensure customer inquiries, quotes, and orders are handled efficiently and accurately.
Showroom Oversight
Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing showroom that showcases Mill Creek’s products effectively.
Work with vendors and marketing to ensure displays, samples, and signage are up‑to‑date and well‑presented.
Ensure the sales team utilizes the showroom as a key sales tool to engage customers and demonstrate product solutions.
Monitor showroom inventory levels for displays and samples and coordinate replenishment as needed.
Administrative & Operational Responsibilities
Track and report sales metrics, performance indicators, and customer feedback to branch leadership.
Ensure compliance with company policies, pricing guidelines, and credit procedures.
Support training initiatives, including product knowledge and sales skills development.
Qualifications Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, sales or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
5+ years of experience in inside sales, preferably in the building materials, construction, or related industry.
2 years experience managing inside sales staff, familiar with construction materials.
Skills & Competencies
Strong leadership and coaching abilities with a focus on employee development and motivation.
Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to drive sales results and build lasting customer relationships.
Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow‑through.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and experienced with ERP/CRM systems (e.g., Epicor, BisTrack, or similar).
Working knowledge of building materials and construction practices preferred.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand or walk for extended periods in the showroom or office areas.
Occasionally lift or move materials up to 50 pounds.
Frequent communication with customers, team members, and vendors.
