Senior Qt Engineer We are developing an advanced medical device platform in the early stages of commercialization. This role offers the opportunity to lead core Qt application architecture in a system that demands high performance, reliability, and precision. We operate like a fast-paced engineering startup — tightly integrated with hardware, product, and domain experts — and are looking for a Qt expert who can drive execution at a high technical standard from day one. This is a full-time onsite role in Santa Monica, California. Compensation:
around $100/hour (W2 or 1099 structure). Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States — we are not able to provide visa sponsorship. Responsibilities
Architect and implement production-grade Qt (Widgets and/or QML/Qt Quick) applications for a medical device Ensure responsive UI performance, rendering reliability, and low-latency software behavior Integrate Qt applications with hardware interfaces, sensors, and imaging or data acquisition systems Make key technical decisions around threading, rendering pipelines, and system modularity Participate in risk assessment, design reviews, and validation processes suitable for regulated environments Operate onsite — rapidly collaborating with hardware, product, and regulatory stakeholders Required Qualifications
5+ years of hands-on Qt development (Qt Widgets and/or Qt Quick/QML) building high-quality software products Strong modern C++ (14/17 or newer) with clean architecture and memory-safe development practices Experience in regulated or safety-critical environments (medical, aerospace, industrial, automotive, etc.) Deep understanding of Qt UI/UX engineering, custom components, GPU acceleration, and performance optimization Proven experience integrating Qt with hardware devices, sensors, or imaging/data systems Strong command of multithreading, event-driven systems, and real-time considerations Familiarity with FDA, IEC 62304, ISO 13485, or similar validation/documentation standards (strong plus) Comfortable working onsite full-time in Santa Monica Excellent communication, ownership mindset, and ability to operate in a fast-moving, high-reliability engineering environment Nice To Have (not Required)
Embedded Linux development background GPU rendering, real-time visualization, or imaging experience Prior experience in medical device UX/HMI or clinical tooling Seniority level
