Department of Philosophy and Classics The Department of Philosophy and Classics offers bachelor’s degrees in philosophy and classical studies, an M.A. in philosophy, and minors in philosophy, classical studies, and religious studies. The faculty have published widely and have won numerous awards in research, teaching, and service. Faculty and students engage in a variety of activities outside the classroom including archeological research, public history projects, ethics bowl, philosophy literature circle at a local prison, and study abroad.

Position Summary The successful candidate will teach two 3‑credit courses in the spring: Critical Thinking and Early Modern Philosophy. Both are in the core curriculum and will have broad student enrollment.

Qualifications Required Qualifications

M.A. in Philosophy, preferably a Ph.D. in Philosophy. Relevant teaching experience. Ability to construct—preferably demonstrated experience with constructing—an engaging learning environment for students with a wide range of backgrounds, that is thoughtfully designed to address challenges to learning (e.g. from AI and technology use in class) and that helps students to grasp, through practice, the value of philosophical reasoning to life.
