Responsibilities
Assists in organizing and promoting and leading diversified recreation activities including afterschool programs, camps, field trips, adult programs, teen programs etc.
Assists for ensuring safe operating conditions of the community center, playground, fields, Parks and equipment for patron use.
Develops plans, organizes, implements and maintain recreation programs as needed to meet the needs of patrons.
Assists in transporting program participants to various locations.
Collects payments for afterschool programs, contracted programs and rentals.
Ensures that safety precautions are observed.
Monitors the use of equipment and materials.
Maintains facility inventory of equipment materials and supplies: order as needed.
Assists in staff training.
Assists in day to day supervision of staff.
Assists in Coordinating of facility rentals (such as meetings, parties, receptions etc,).
Performs various related clerical activities to include answering the telephone, using the fax and copy machines, etc.
Prepares routine reports.
Coordinates At Risk Program for teens.
Assists in promoting community awareness concerning Park & R.E.C. activities through distribution of brochures, flyers, social media, community meetings, etc.
Prepares and processes various facility reports and records as required.
Assists in the preparation of city wide special events.
May attend supervisor meetings, professional seminars, conferences, workshops, ect. as required
Acts as lead worker as required
Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications
High school diploma preferably supplemented by college level courses in education, physical education, psychology, social work or recreation with a minimum of one (1) experience in the leadership of public, private or commercial recreation activities or equal.
OR six (6) months experience with an Associate’s Degree in Parks and Recreation, Physical Education or related field.
OR Bachelor’s Degree in Parks and Recreation, Physical Education or related field or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Must possess CPR/First Aid certifications.
Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License. (Class E)
Skills
Knowledgeof principles, rules, policies and equipment requirements of common recreation activities.
Knowledge of safety procedure and safety precautions.
Abilityto instruct individuals and groups in a variety of recreation activities.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public.
Abilityto understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
Ability to maintain routine records and prepare reports.
