Job Summary Regularly performs the full range and scope of housekeeping services at a Navy Gateway Inn and Suites and/or Navy Lodge property, including but not limited to cleaning guest rooms, interior public spaces, storage areas, laundry rooms, exterior spaces, and more. Services include vacuuming, mopping, dusting, scrubbing, washing, moving items, polishing, and removing debris. Uses hand and powered cleaning equipment in connection with performing duties.
Duties And Responsibilities
Cleans guest rooms and other assigned areas. Operates cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaner, carpet cleaner, waxer and polisher. Empties wastebaskets, dusts, waxes and polishes room furniture. Also washes walls, partitions, air vents, disinfects and deodorizes toilets, lavatories, etc. Changes light bulbs, cleans window treatments, and cleans ceiling fixtures.
Cleans iron and ironing board and replaces cover as necessary. Ensures proper functionality of luggage racks and maintains number of male/female hangers in closets.
Places proper number of amenities in room, removes and replaces bed linen, inspects mattresses, and moves beds upon guest checkout or request.
Greets and welcomes guests, maintaining outstanding guest relations.
Ensures privacy and security of guests at all times.
Vacuums and mops corridors, stairways, guest laundry areas, patios, balconies; shampoos rugs and carpets.
Performs deep cleaning as required, including pet‑friendly rooms and ADA service‑animal rooms. Performs scheduled carpet cleaning with heavy‑industrial equipment.
Maintains cleanliness and order of storage rooms.
Communicates status of cleaned rooms to supervisor through daily assignments or the property‑management system.
Accomplishes minor repairs of equipment and reports major repairs to supervisor.
Cleans and inspects exterior spaces such as parking lots and outside passageways.
May be required to load and unload trucks or vans, and to move heavy items using hand trucks and hand tools.
Responsible for passing keys and other keys as assigned; returns all keys at shift end.
Reports any lost and found items immediately, listing room number or area found.
May assist with set‑up and break‑down of the complimentary self‑service breakfast bar, ensuring area is returned to original state by end of break‑fast hour; required food‑handling certifications may apply.
Completes all required safety and security training; applies knowledge of blood‑borne pathogen safety measures.
Performs laundry operations at the facility.
May need valid state driver’s license to travel to other lodging facilities as required.
May need to obtain NHG housekeeping certification within 6 months and other certification requirements; performs related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
No experience required.
High School Graduate or equivalent preferred.
Physical requirements moderate: moving furniture, using hand or lightweight powered cleaning equipment.
Must be able to travel on short notice to other naval facilities within normal scope of duties.

Permanent Solution Position may work across multiple locations based on business needs. Initial assignment will be at Main Base/Annex.
