Overview
Position Title:
Justice Court Clerk
Provo City is looking for a full-time Justice Court Clerk to support the daily operations of the Provo City Justice Court. This position involves preparing and processing a variety of court records to ensure court functionality is maintained. (G23) $21.99 to $30.32 per hour (depending upon qualifications)

Main duties
Prepare, process, and maintain a variety of court records, including bench warrants, commitment and release orders, appeals, expungement records, complaints, affidavits, defaults, motions, summons, subpoenas, judgements, court minutes, and other orders of the court.
Maintain court dockets, calendars, and schedules.
Administer oaths to witnesses and jurors.
Receive, mark, and store exhibits and evidence.
Arrange interpreters and video in custody hearings with jails throughout Utah.
Maintain jury lists, questionnaires, and summons.
Prepare jury instructions, process jury list for payments, and assist with all other aspects of juries.
Answer questions from the public, defendants, law enforcement agencies, attorneys, and other interested parties.
Collect, handle, and account for money collected by the court for fines, fees, forfeiture, or other charges.
Perform other related duties as required.
Minimum qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and two years of high-level clerical support experience.
OR an equivalent combination of education/experience [substituting each year of post-secondary education/training for six months of experience].
Preference given for experience in a court or legal setting and ability to type 40 WPM.
Spanish-speaking abilities preferred.
May require a valid driver license.
Schedule The Justice Court operates on a 9/80 schedule. Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, with every other Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Selection process Applications will be reviewed in the order they are submitted, with the first screening being held on
November 11, 2025 . Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications listed above to be eligible for consideration.
If selected for hire, the candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
