Customs Entry Writer

Kuehne+Nagel As a Customs Entry Writer, you will provide outstanding customer service by completing all tasks and responsibilities related to customs entry transactions. You may perform additional tasks assigned by the Manager or Supervisor that support the Customs Brokerage Department per NBSC guidelines. You will assist in the preparation of all documents necessary to clear merchandise through U.S. Customs & Border Protection and Participating Governmental Agencies (e.g., FDA, EPA, DOT, FCC, Fish and Wildlife). How you create impact Process shipments within department guidelines according to NBSC Customer list / Controlling branch instructions Timely and accurate input of all data/information necessary to process and facilitate shipments through U.S. Customs and PSGs Classify goods according to the customer SOPs and/or instructions Check CargoWise “buckets” daily to ensure all steps in entry/brokerage processes are being followed Document review and assessment for accuracy; verification of critical data elements for entry processing Scanning and archiving of entry document images and communicate any documentation discrepancies to supervisor and/or controlling branch Request or compile any necessary import documentation from client Accurate completion of all PSG data interfaces (e.g., FDA, EPA, DOT, FCC, Fish & Wildlife) and communicate entry number and entry status to carrier What we would like you to bring A high school diploma or GED certificate (preferred) 1+ years' experience in Customs Clearance and a customer service role Working knowledge of CargoWise Knowledge of domestic and international geography including countries, major cities and ocean ports, along with basic knowledge of U.S. regulatory laws Basic knowledge of INCO terms, the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, customs regulations and other government agency requirements What's in it for you We offer a dynamic global work environment with opportunities for training programs and career mobility.
