Location New England – Boston office or hybrid in New Hampshire or Maine (candidate must reside within the states of NH, ME or MA).
Job Highlights
Experienced P&C Underwriter focused on improving customer experience by offering end‑to‑end solutions for Middle Markets P&C insurance needs.
Property & Casualty team in Boston.
Hybrid work model.
Full‑time position.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain relationships with broker partners and customers across all industries to support business objectives.
Leverage P&C underwriting acumen across risk assessment, exposure evaluation and pricing to generate and maintain a profitable book of new and renewal business.
Collaborate with claims, finance, risk engineering, actuarial and technical underwriting teams.
Use technical underwriting, negotiation and interpersonal skills to grow and develop relationships with preferred distribution partners in an assigned territory.
Qualifications – Underwriting Specialist
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 3+ years experience in Underwriting or Market Facing area, or
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6+ years experience in Claims or Underwriting Support area, or
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice (Associate Degree) and 1+ years Underwriting or Market Facing experience, or
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice (Associate Degree) and 4+ years Claims or Underwriting Support experience and
Knowledge of P&C lines of business and legal/regulatory guidelines.
Knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business.
Experience with Microsoft Office.
Qualifications – Executive Underwriter
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5+ years experience in Underwriting or Market Facing area, or
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10+ years experience in Claims or Underwriting Support area, or
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice (Associate Degree) and 3+ years Underwriting or Market Facing experience, or
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice (Associate Degree) and 8+ years Claims or Underwriting Support experience and
Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Experience working on time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business.
Experience working in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree.
Established relationships with Property & Casualty broker partners.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
CPCU and ARM a plus.
Compensation Combined salary range: $75,000.00 – $165,000.00. Underwriting Specialist level: $75,000.00 – $125,000.00. Executive Underwriter level: $98,500.00 – $165,000.00. Short‑term incentive bonus eligibility: 10% – 15%.
