Accounting Manager (Mortgage/Loan) We are seeking a skilled and experienced Accounting Manager
to lead our accounting operations and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data. In this role, you will oversee day-to-day accounting functions including accounts payable, payroll, commission processing, and month-end close. You'll also support financial reporting, compliance, and cross-department collaboration.
This is a key leadership position reporting directly to senior management, with opportunities for growth and influence in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and manage the full cycle of accounts payable, ensuring timely and accurate payments to vendors
Supervise payroll processes, including commissions for Loan Officers and salaried employees
Manage the reconciliation of vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals
Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions in accordance with GAAP
Collaborate with internal departments to address payment inquiries and resolve financial issues
Assist with preparation of financial reports, statements, and analyses for management and external stakeholders
Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and regulatory requirements
Support audits and implement process improvements for greater efficiency and accuracy
Oversee or mentor junior accounting staff
Qualifications
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role
Prior experience in the mortgage or financial services industry highly preferred
Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and general ledger management
Proficient in accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, etc.) and advanced Excel skills
Experience with payroll and commission processing required
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments
Experience managing overseas accounting operations is a plus
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA is a bonus)
