Overview The Senior Director of eCommerce will lead the digital retail strategy and execution across a large multi-brand automotive group. This role is responsible for driving online sales performance, optimizing the end‑to‑end digital customer experience, and integrating eCommerce best practices into dealership operations. The ideal candidate is a strategic, data‑driven digital leader who understands both automotive retail and modern eCommerce trends.
Key Responsibilities
Digital Sales Strategy:
Develop and execute a comprehensive eCommerce roadmap that increases online leads, appointments, and digital retail transactions across all dealerships.
Website & Platform Management:
Oversee dealership websites, third‑party integrations, and digital retailing tools to ensure a seamless, brand‑consistent customer journey.
Conversion Optimization:
Lead efforts to improve lead conversion, online financing applications, digital trade valuations, test drive appointments, and purchase completion rates.
Customer Experience:
Create a frictionless omnichannel experience that bridges online and in‑store shopping—leveraging technology, analytics, and CRM insights.
Vendor & Platform Partnerships:
Manage relationships with digital vendors (website providers, CRM, DMS, chat, digital retailing tools) and negotiate contracts to maximize ROI.
Data & Analytics:
Develop dashboards and KPIs to track eCommerce performance, customer engagement, and sales attribution; translate insights into actionable business recommendations.
Cross‑Functional Leadership:
Partner with experience design, analytics, marketing, operations, and sales leadership to align digital initiatives with organizational goals and performance targets.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement:
Stay ahead of emerging trends in digital retailing, customer behavior, and automotive eCommerce technologies.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or related field (MBA preferred)
8+ years of experience in eCommerce, digital marketing, or digital retail leadership
Proven track record of driving online sales growth and customer acquisition through digital channels
Strong analytical mindset with experience in Google Analytics, GA4, Looker Studio, or similar platforms
Excellent leadership, communication, and vendor management skills
Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, multi‑brand, multi‑location organization
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Website traffic growth and lead conversion rate
Cost per lead and digital ROI
Customer satisfaction and NPS from online journeys
