About the Opportunity:
Our client, a leader in autonomous vehicles, is looking for a skilled
Hardware Engineering Technician
to join their team for a 6+ months engagement. This project involves supporting the Advanced Hardware Engineering department in their testing and development of sensors, compute, and power system Electronic Control Units (ECU). This is a high-impact role that requires a self-motivated professional who can hit the ground running and deliver results quickly.
Responsibilities & Deliverables
Cable harness and test setup assembly, modifications, testing, and documentation.
Soldering & PCBA rework; wires (00 AWG to 35 AWG), SMD chips (0201+), and ICs (QFN, BGA).
Test support including test preparation, execution, data collection, and documentation.
Assisting in managing inventory of equipment and consumables; ordering parts and supplies.
Maintaining a safe and organized lab environment and contributing to lab improvements.
Required Skills & Experience
5+ years of experience in a similar role (implied from typical technician experience and the depth of skills listed).
Deep expertise in cable harness and test setup assembly, modifications, testing, and documentation; soldering & PCBA rework (wires (00 AWG to 35 AWG), SMD chips (0201+), and ICs (QFN, BGA)); and the ability to move into different projects quickly. This isn\'t a learning role—you need to be a subject matter expert.
Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage your own time effectively to meet project goals.
Experience assembling, inspecting, debugging, testing, & repairing PCBAs and cable harnesses; reading electrical schematics, circuit board files, BOMs, and engineering drawings; and experience with EE lab equipment (soldering irons, DMMs, power supplies, oscilloscopes, etc.) and hardware tools (crimpers, wire strippers, torque drivers, calipers, power drills, etc.).
Strong communication skills to provide clear and concise status updates to the project team.
