Senior Static Physiotherapist Trauma and Orthopaedics

Overview
Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a motivated and experienced physiotherapist to join the Orthopaedic Team. This is a static post within the orthopaedic physiotherapy team at Worcester Royal Hospital, with the opportunity to rotate to the Alexandra Hospital to gain elective orthopaedic experience and to support both services when required. You will be working as part of a dynamic integrated therapy team providing physiotherapy to orthopaedic in-patients. There is the opportunity to be involved in the development of the services across both elective and trauma. The closing date is 12 November 2025. You will have previous experience of working within inpatient orthopaedics, demonstrate a good broad base of orthopaedic knowledge and have the ability to manage a team of staff and students. You will be able to develop management skills and work closely with other senior staff within the team. You will benefit from regular supervision, in-service training, and access to specialist clinicians to help develop your clinical and leadership skills. We are committed to your professional development and encourage ongoing CPD and contribution to the education and supervision of junior staff. Participation in our on-call service, as well as weekend and 7-day working rotas, is required. Main duties of the job
Working as an autonomous practitioner, provide high quality patient-focused care through assessment, diagnosis, development and delivery of individual treatment programmes. Take responsibility for own caseload within a defined area of service or for a particular patient type. Provide supervision, support and education to qualified and unqualified staff and students. Participate in departmental audit in support of evidence-based practice. Communicate with the MDT as appropriate to provide a comprehensive assessment and determine admission prevention as appropriate to the given speciality. Undertake outpatient activity as appropriate within area of speciality. Contribute to a 7-day service on a rota basis and complete on-call over a 24-hour period. Be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of practice, including the management of patients receiving treatment. Undertake clinical assessment, including risk analysis, of patients presenting with simple and complex/multi-pathologies within trauma. Use advanced clinical reasoning skills and manual assessment techniques to establish an accurate diagnosis. Use judgemental skills and comprehensive knowledge of physiotherapy treatments to formulate individual treatment programmes based on evidence of best practice. This post involves frequent manual handling activities and requires physical effort. There is frequent need for prolonged concentration when assessing and treating highly complex patients and a need to act rapidly in potentially life-threatening situations. There is also a need for dealing with emotionally distressing situations and unpredictable work patterns. Job Purpose:

Appraisal with Team Lead Physiotherapist, maintain clinical professional development, participate in mandatory training, engage in research and development activities, present to colleagues, supervise and appraise junior staff and students, and adhere to local policies. Qualifications
Diploma or degree in physiotherapy Member of CSP Experience
Broad experience in core rotations with senior-level involvement in a speciality Experience working in an acute NHS environment Evidence of relevant and recent CPD Experience supervising assistants and students; involvement in audit or research Personal Qualities
Professional manner Team player Able to show initiative Excellent interpersonal skills Able to be approachable and consistent Disclosure and Barring Service Check
