The Director of the Asphalt Paving Division is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the company’s paving operations and a team of 8–12 Superintendents. This individual will provide strategic direction, operational leadership, and technical oversight for highway, roadway, and site development projects across Cape Cod and nearby islands. The Director will report directly to the President and serve as the key liaison between executive management, project managers, and field operations to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality project delivery. Key Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 8–12 Superintendents overseeing paving and civil projects. Direct all field operations to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget. Review project plans, specifications, and contracts to ensure compliance and accuracy. Collaborate with Project Managers on scheduling, cost control, materials, and equipment needs. Oversee resource allocation, crew productivity, and project logistics across multiple job sites. Ensure adherence to MASS DOT and local city construction requirements. Promote and enforce a strong safety culture aligned with OSHA and company standards. Provide problem-solving leadership in the field to address challenges and maintain workflow. Utilize GPS survey equipment and machine control systems to improve efficiency and precision. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams. Support continuous improvement initiatives and process optimization across the division. Required Qualifications
Minimum 10 years of experience in heavy civil or highway construction (or equivalent combination of education and experience). Proven experience in paving, roadway, or sitework construction. Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and tools related to road and infrastructure projects. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction plans, and contracts. Familiarity with construction survey terminology, GPS equipment, and layout practices. Demonstrated success managing multiple field teams and large-scale civil projects. Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills. Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel regularly to project sites. Preferred Qualifications
Experience with highway or runway construction projects. Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
