Peer Specialist Schedule:
Monday – Friday | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM Work Type:
Hybrid (Typically 3 days in-office, 2 days remote; schedule based on program needs) Location:
CTI Harlem (Comprehensive Treatment Institute – Harlem) About the Program: CTI Harlem provides outpatient day treatment services to chemically dependent adults, offering counseling, support groups, and community referrals to promote recovery and wellness. Position Summary: The Peer Specialist plays a vital role in fostering engagement between participants, families, and the clinical team. This position focuses on building trust, promoting community awareness of S:US services, encouraging treatment participation, and supporting participants as they navigate ambivalence about recovery. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Relationship Building:
Develop authentic, trusting relationships with participants and families through empathy, active listening, and collaboration. Creative Narratives:
Share personal experiences and facilitate conversations that promote understanding, resilience, and recovery. Advocacy:
Support and advocate for participants both within the team and the broader community. Wellness Tools:
Partner with participants to create individualized wellness plans, build life skills, and connect to supportive resources. Team Culture:
Promote recovery-oriented language, youth-friendly engagement, and a positive, inclusive team environment. Required Education & Experience: Actively pursuing
Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA)
certification (Provisional acceptable). Preferred: lived experience with mental health challenges, particularly psychosis during youth. Minimum
two years of experience
in peer support, advocacy, or self-help programs. Strong ability to engage and connect with young adults.
