Beacon Technologies
Beacon Technologies is seeking an experienced Senior Front End Developer (contract) for our client partner. This role will help modernize our client's existing ASP.NET 4.7 MVC/Kendo-based web UI and build new micro web UIs tailored for client-specific workflows. You will work closely with the existing frontend developer and backend engineers to accelerate delivery, reduce bottlenecks, and ensure smooth migration to ASP.NET 8.0 and modern frontend practices. This role is ideal for someone who has successfully transitioned legacy .NET/MVC applications to modern web stacks and enjoys solving both migration challenges and greenfield UI development.
Major Responsibilities
Legacy Modernization
Assist in porting ASP.NET 4.7 MVC + Kendo UI application to ASP.NET 8.0 with modern frontend practices.
Refactor front-end components, JavaScript, jQuery, and REST/SOAP-integrated UI workflows to more maintainable patterns.
Replace or modernize legacy UI libraries (e.g., Kendo UI, Ninject) where appropriate.
New Micro-UIs
Develop lightweight micro frontend UIs for clients, each with tailored workflows.
Integrate with backend services via REST/SOAP APIs.
Ensure consistent styling, responsiveness, and usability across micro-apps.
Collaboration
Work alongside backend engineers and our primary frontend developer to share knowledge and reduce bottlenecks.
Participate in design discussions and propose pragmatic solutions for UI/UX modernization.
Write clean, testable, and maintainable code with an eye toward long-term maintainability.
Ancillary Responsibilities
Support DevOps and CI/CD efforts to streamline release processes.
Provide occasional support for production incidents and escalations.
Participate in user research and feedback loops to improve product usability.
Requirements
5+ years of front-end experience across a range of technologies
Proven track record of delivering production-ready applications in an enterprise or high-growth environment.
Qualifications
Strong experience in C# and ASP.NET (MVC and Core/8.0) – must be comfortable bridging legacy and modern stacks.
Frontend expertise with JavaScript/TypeScript, jQuery, HTML5, CSS3, and frameworks.
UI component libraries – experience with Kendo UI (Telerik) or similar libraries; ability to migrate away if needed.
Familiarity with dependency injection frameworks (Microsoft.Extensions.DependencyInjection).
Strong understanding of REST and SOAP service integration.
Experience building modular/micro-frontend architectures.
Solid understanding of cross-browser compatibility, responsive design, and accessibility.
Decision Making Level/Position Latitude
Works independently on complex tasks and projects with minimal supervision.
Provides technical guidance and makes recommendations on frameworks, tools, and design approaches.
Exercises judgment in balancing speed, quality, and scalability in development decisions.
Escalates critical issues or risks but is expected to make day-to-day technical and coding decisions autonomously.
Position Scope

Indirect Reports / Mentorship: Provides guidance and technical mentorship to junior developers.
Budget Responsibility: None directly; may influence technology and tooling investments through recommendations.
