Job Description Salary: Believer Meats is an innovative start-up revolutionizing the food industry through the development and commercialization of cultivated meat products. Leveraging cutting-edge biotechnology, we aim to provide sustainable, ethical, and high-quality meat alternatives to consumers worldwide. As we prepare to bring our first product to market, we are seeking a Shipping and Receiving Clerk to join our team.
JOB SUMMARY Working with the Warehouse Department, the Shipping & Receiving Clerk is responsible for managing the flow of materials and products in and out of the manufacturing facility. This role ensures accurate and timely handling of shipments, proper documentation, and coordination with internal departments to maintain efficient production and inventory control.
Benefits: This is a full-time, hourly (non-exempt) role eligible for generous benefits including PTO, Health Care, Retirement with company match, and Parental and Medical Leaves (subject to company policies including eligibility and waiting periods).
Schedule: This role works full-time, on-site during standard business hours (Monday to Friday).
Please note: This position does not offer relocation assistance. Candidates must be in the Wilson, North Carolina area or be willing to relocate at their own expense. Additionally, visa sponsorship is not available for this role. Applicants must be authorized to work in the US and now require visa sponsorship now or in the future.
RESPONSIBILITIES Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials against packing slips and purchase orders. Prepare and package outgoing shipments according to company and carrier standards. Maintain accurate records of all incoming and outgoing shipments in inventory systems. Coordinate with production and warehouse teams to ensure timely movement of materials. Operate forklifts or other material handling equipment as needed, following safety protocols. Must consistently follow all safety and food safety protocols, guidelines, and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. This includes compliance with properly using personal protective equipment (PPE), identifying and reporting potential hazards, and actively participating in safety training and initiatives. A commitment to maintaining a culture of safety and minimizing risks to yourself and your colleagues is essential.
QUALIFICATIONS The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience in similar shipping and receiving-type work. Experience working in fast-paced or heavily regulated manufacturing companies strongly preferred.
The incumbent clerk will have a combination of skills, education, and skills that demonstrate the ability to fulfill all aspects of this job description. Solid computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, ERP system, shipping
platforms/FedEx/UPS). Highly organized and skilled in shipping & receiving logistics. Professional communication skills, ability to organize details, and take initiative in a busy start-up environment. Experience driving forklifts and the ability to obtain forklift certification (training provided). Ability to regularly commute to Wilson, North Carolina and reliably work assigned shift. Authorized to work in the US (Believer is an E-Verify participant). Ability to pass pre-employment background screening and drug test.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS With or without reasonable accommodation Mobility: Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and climb for extended periods throughout the workday; move freely within the warehouse and loading dock areas. Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle, grasp, and operate tools, scanners, and packaging materials. Physical Endurance: Capable of performing repetitive physical tasks and remaining active for long periods during shifts, including during peak shipping times. Visual and Auditory Acuity: Ability to read shipping labels, packing slips, and computer screens; hear forklifts, alarms, and verbal instructions in a noisy environment. Lifting and Carrying: Able to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds regularly, with occasional heavier lifting using proper equipment or team assistance.
