Hiring Range: $17.11 - $18.82 (Depending on qualifications)
Work Days/Hours: Monday – Friday
Shift: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Job Summary
The Receptionist is responsible for receiving, screening, and routing telephone callers, visitors, and/or electronic communications and performing routine clerical and related support work.
Essential Job Functions
- Manages the reception desk at City Hall, answering incoming telephone calls on a multi-line telephone system, directing visitors to the appropriate offices and individuals within the building and alerting staff when necessary, regarding visitors. Answers telephone and give information to callers, takes messages, or transfers calls to appropriate individuals.
- Processes incoming/outgoing mail and packages; picks up and delivers mail; sorts, organizes, opens, and/or distributes incoming mail; signs for incoming mail/packages and delivers to appropriate personnel; processes outgoing mail through postage machine; assists with packaging and mailing of outgoing mail/packages, which may include completing shipping labels and contacting shipping/courier services for pickup of packages.
- Completes forms in accordance with organizational procedures.
- Provides excellent customer service for both internal and external customers.
- Receives, reads, and routes incoming Open Records Requests.
- Provides notary services to visitors of City Hall, as needed.
- Operates office equipment such as multi-line telephone systems, personal computers, reproduction and scanning equipment, calculators, and facsimile machines. Types letters, labels, and narrative, numerical, or graphic information to facilitate the processing or documentation of information; files documents and other material, and/or enters/scans numerical or graphic information, into existing spreadsheets, filing and database systems, as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED (or equivalent); supplemented by one (1) year of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Licenses Or Certifications
GA Notary Public
Special Requirements
Requires an acceptable general background check to include a local and state criminal history check and an acceptable driving record.
Requires satisfactory results from a pre-employment alcohol and controlled substance testing.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Knowledge of basic arithmetic operations.
- Knowledge of policies and procedures of City and Department.
- Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with co‑workers, other City employees and the public using principles of excellent customer service.
- Ability to exchange information for the purpose of clarifying details within well‑established policies, procedures and standards.
- Ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness and creativity in situations involving a variety of generally pre‑defined duties which are often characterized by frequent change.
- Skill in operating modern office equipment, including computers and supporting word processing and Excel spreadsheet applications.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is sedentary work which requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force. Work requires to exert light physical effort which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight. Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station. Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in an office environment. Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
