Responsibilities
Harbor Point Behavioral Health Center offers hope and healing for youth ages 7 to 17 at the time of admission with several psychiatric diagnoses and/or developmental disabilities. Located in Portsmouth, VA, Harbor Point provides intensive, residential treatment to youth in a comfortable setting that is conducive to healing. Our facility specializes in treating children and adolescents with depression, bipolar, ADHD, and other mental health issues. We also have specific treatment programs for those with intellectual disabilities or self‑injurious behavior.
Position Summary
Full‑time HR Coordinator to join our Human Resources Team. Performs daily process‑related responsibilities in support of transactions in various areas, including recruitment, employment, benefits, performance appraisal, worker’s compensation, staff development, reward and recognition, and resignation/termination. Performs consistently in compliance with all internal standards, policies and procedures, state, federal and licensing requirements as well as standards of accreditation.
Job Duties (not an inclusive list)
- Maintain correspondence, forms, listings, files, reports, and personnel records.
- Create and accurately maintain employee files.
- Ensure all documents are organized and filed in an appropriate and timely manner.
- Participate in routine and special file audits and data entry projects to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Perform typing, word processing, spreadsheet, and database work.
- Compile and prepare forms, reports, and projects.
- Assist with screening, recruiting, and interviewing potential employees.
- On‑board and train new employees.
- Implement company culture, values, and policies.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
- Minimum three to five years of Human Resources experience in a fast‑paced, dynamic department or service, or education in HR or management that can substitute for experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Experience handling confidential business matters with discretion.
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced and ever‑changing environment.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines under pressure.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Desire to work in a collaborative team environment.
- Ability to effectively interact and build relationships with a diverse employee population and all levels of management.
