Job Summary and Qualifications
As a Unit Secretary, you will be responsible for assisting with routine patient care assignments, working in controlled and/or uncontrolled patient care situations, and assisting with/ in established nursing care procedures under the direction of a Registered Nurse. You will be responsible for assisting the nursing staff with the initiation of all orders from physicians, and for clerical duties as assigned by the Charge Nurse, Nurse Manager and/or Director.
Responsibilities
- Perform clerical functions in compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
- Supervise nursing unit’s physical needs and transcribe orders.
- Answer call lights, order supplies, maintain chart organization, and keep files/forms orderly.
- Conduct duties in accordance with established hospital and departmental policy and safety/infection control standards.
- Complete procedures related to patient admissions, transfers, discharges and expiration according to policy and procedures.
- Actively participate in hospital and departmental group meetings.
Qualifications
- 1 year of previous clerical experience required.
- Experience in the hospital/medical field preferred.
- Medical terminology knowledge preferred.
- Current BCLS issued by the American Heart Association required.
